Meta Ray-Ban Display Now Available in US Stores
The Meta Ray-Ban Display is now on sale exclusively at select physical locations across the United States. Launched at Connect 2025 two weeks ago, these innovative smart glasses offer an in-lens display and can be found at select Best Buy, LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut, and Ray-Ban stores, along with the Meta Lab.
Booking a Demo Recommended
Meta strongly recommends scheduling a demo before purchasing the glasses. However, availability is limited, with many locations fully booked until late October or as far ahead as December. Notably, Meta confirmed that a demo is not strictly required to make a purchase.
Choosing the Right Size
Although a demo isn’t compulsory for purchase, it is advisable to find the best fit from the three available Meta Neural Band sizes for your wrist. Several stores are currently limiting initial stock to customers with scheduled appointments.
Future Availability and Online Sales
Meta is planning to increase the number of stores offering demos to meet consumer demand. “We’re adding more stores to meet the demand, with new availability opening every day,” the company stated. Eventually, Meta will also offer the product online; for now, in-person visits are necessary.
Specifications and Features
The Meta Ray-Ban Display is available in glossy Black and matte Sand, in Standard and Large sizes. All variants utilize Transitions lenses that adapt to light, making them ideal for both indoor and outdoor wear. They accommodate prescriptions ranging from -4 to +4. The glasses are priced at $800 and include a fixed heads-up display (HUD) in the right lens, which is operated via finger gestures detected by the accompanying Meta Neural Band.
Functionalities Offered
The glasses feature a range of functions such as:
- Meta AI with Visuals: Allows users to receive visual answers and tutorials.
- Messaging & Video Calling: View texts and multimedia hands-free from various platforms.
- Preview & Zoom: Offers real-time camera zoom functionality for easy photography.
- Pedestrian Navigation: Provides phone-free walking directions with visual maps.
- Live Captions & Translation: Displays real-time captions and translations during conversations.
- Music Playback: Shows currently playing music and allows navigation through gestures.
Overall Impressions
The Meta Ray-Ban Display weighs 69 grams, compared to lighter versions, and features thicker frames. The expected battery life is around six hours of regular use. A software update in December will introduce text entry via the wristband by swiping across a physical surface. While there are identifiable flaws with the first-generation glasses, the Meta Neural Band impresses with its functionality, described as nearly magical in user experience.
