Documentary on Global Superstar Lisa in Production
Lisa, the global sensation known for her role in Blackpink, is balancing her music career with solo projects and acting. A documentary focused on her life is currently in the works, produced by Sony Music Vision and directed by Sue Kim, with the announcement made at a Sony Music Vision event in Hollywood.
During the event, Kim discussed her documentary on Lisa, alongside fellow directors like Baz Luhrmann, who provided insights into his upcoming Elvis Presley documentary, and Frank Marshall, who shared a sneak peek of his Barbra Streisand project.
While no specific release date for Lisa’s film has been announced, Kim mentioned that she spent a year collaborating with the singer. Kim has previously directed notable works, including the acclaimed “The Last of the Sea Women.” Notably, she also served as an executive producer on Apple TV+’s docuseries “K-Pop Idols,” indicating her familiarity with the genre.
A trailer presented at the screening showcased various aspects of Lisa’s life, featuring concert performances and intimate moments with her family. According to Kim, during their first meeting, Lisa expressed a desire to include her childhood friends in the documentary.
In a statement about the project, Lisa expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to film and share her journey with fans, stating, “It’s been an incredible year… and I know this is just the beginning of many more exciting things to come.”
Kim added, “Following Lisa on this transformative and thrilling year has been a true honor… I’m excited for viewers to witness this extraordinary moment in her life.”
The documentary, produced by Tremolo Productions in association with Salt Water Productions and LLOUD CO., will feature producers Morgan Neville and Caitrin Rogers, among others. It comes on the heels of Lisa’s debut solo album, “Alter Ego,” as Blackpink members prepare to reunite for a brief tour after individual projects. Additionally, Lisa’s acting debut in the latest season of “The White Lotus” will also be explored in the film.
