Giannis Antetokounmpo holds steady at the third position for the second consecutive week.
As Week 2 of the NBA season unfolded, we witnessed a full slate of games and a remarkable comeback from the top player in our rankings, who resumed showcasing his elite skills. Additionally, we welcomed a few new names into the upper ranks, including a standout point guard who has emerged as a key player on his team despite the presence of other marquee names.
The players listed below were the top fantasy point earners per game last week (minimum of two games played).:
#1. Luka Dončić, Lakers
Last Week: 61.8 FP/G Season Rank: 1 (67.9 FP/G)
Dončić returned from a finger injury sooner than anticipated, missing only three games and quickly returning to his top-tier performance. In his comeback against the Grizzlies, he played for 39 minutes, achieving a double-double of 44 points and 12 rebounds. He then recorded his first triple-double of the season with 29 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists in a win over the Heat. With his health restored, Dončić is likely to remain a fixture at the top, even when LeBron James makes his season debut.
#2. Nikola Jokić, Nuggets
Last Week: 60.2 FP/G Season Rank: 4 (58.7 FP/G)
Jokić displayed his prowess, closely trailing Dončić and aiding the Nuggets to a 2-1 record. Although he narrowly fell short of a fifth consecutive triple-double against the Blazers, he showcased his shooting efficiency with 74.3% accuracy overall, including 60% from beyond the arc. His usage rate is slightly reduced this season at 22.9%, as he takes on more facilitating responsibilities (averaging 10.8 assists per game), yet he continues to score over 20 points per game.
#3. Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bucks
Last Week: 59.2 FP/G Season Rank: 2 (64.3 FP/G)
Antetokounmpo maintained his position at third place after delivering impressive performances. He missed one game due to a knee issue but averaged 31.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1.0 steals across the two games he played, shooting an impressive 68.6% from the field. His season average now sits at a career-best 68.4% after five games.
#4. Tyrese Maxey, 76ers
Last Week: 57.7 FP/G Season Rank: 5 (56.6 FP/G)
With both Joel Embiid and Paul George dealing with injuries, Maxey has taken charge of the 76ers’ offense. The young guard, in his prime, has been outstanding, averaging 42.5 minutes on the court in his first six games. He boasts a career-high 46.4% shooting from three-point range this season, leading Philadelphia to a 3-1 record, and averaging 33.5 points, 9.8 assists, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game.
#5. Lauri Markkanen, Jazz
Last Week: 52.5 FP/G Season Rank: 10 (47.0 FP/G)
Markkanen has made a significant impact this week, earning his place with averages of 36.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.0 blocks across 37.8 minutes. He kicked off his week with a standout 51-point, 14-rebound double-double against the Suns and followed it up with two additional 30-plus point games, successfully shooting 51.3% in those outings. Although the Jazz managed a 1-3 record, Markkanen has opened the season impressively, averaging a career-best 33.0 points on a career-high 22.5 shot attempts per game.
