James Maddison’s Tribute to Ange Postecoglou
James Maddison has recently joined the chorus of Tottenham Hotspur players expressing admiration for their former manager, Ange Postecoglou, following his recent sacking. The heartfelt message came nearly 24 hours after the announcement of Postecoglou’s dismissal from the club.
Posting on social media just before 4pm on Saturday, Maddison thanked Postecoglou for his belief and leadership during their tenure at Spurs. He emphasized the manager’s high morals and winning mentality.
The talented midfielder, who was recruited by Postecoglou in the summer of 2023 and quickly appointed as one of the vice-captains, is part of a growing list of teammates who have publicly acknowledged their appreciation for the outgoing manager after his abrupt termination.
In his message to the ‘Gaffer’, Maddison expressed immense gratitude, stating, “Thank you for bringing me to this wonderful club that I now call my home.” He also highlighted their successful Europa League campaign, which concluded with a memorable victory in Bilbao, praising Postecoglou for leading the team to success and securing their place in the club’s history.
Maddison noted the importance of Postecoglou’s character, describing him as a family man with “great morals”. He concluded with a heartfelt wish for the best in the future, acknowledging how much he has learned from him.
Following Maddison’s tribute, several other Spurs players shared their thoughts as well, including club captain Son Heung-min, who expressed gratitude for Postecoglou’s belief in the team and his pivotal role in achieving significant successes during his tenure.
Despite the sacking, which occurred just 16 days after leading Tottenham to a Europa League victory and ending a long trophy drought, Postecoglou reflected on his time with pride, acknowledging both the challenges and achievements of his two-year term at the club.
