This week’s UFC Vegas 106 fight card is in full swing as it marks the last UFC Fight Night before the promotion takes a break for Memorial Day in the United States. The event will be held on Saturday at the UFC Apex in Enterprise, Nevada.
For those in the U.S., the live coverage of UFC Vegas 106 starts with the preliminary fights at 4 PM ET/1 PM PT on ESPN+. Main card fights will then take place from 7 PM ET/4 PM PT on the subscription service.
Unless there are any last-minute changes, this card will feature a total of 12 MMA bouts from the top promotion in the world.
UFC Vegas 106 Main Event: No. 8 Gilbert Burns vs. No. 12 Michael Morales
The main event will showcase a welterweight clash featuring No. 8 contender Gilbert Burns (22-8 MMA, 15-8 UFC) against No. 12 contender Michael Morales (17-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC). This bout was originally scheduled for UFC 315 last weekend but was moved to UFC Vegas 106 by the promotion in April.
This matchup is set for a maximum of five rounds, with each round lasting five minutes. Entering UFC Vegas 106, Burns has a 2-3 record in his last five fights and is currently on a three-fight losing streak, with his last bout resulting in a unanimous decision loss to Sean Brady on September 7 of last year.
In an interview, Burns reflected on the fight, stating, “I was like Michael Morales years ago. I feel like I have to do the same. It’s a test; if I win, I knock him off and he can have another opportunity in the future, but he needs an opportunity and who am I to say no?”
UFC Vegas 106 Co-Main Event: Rodolfo Bellato vs. Paul Craig
Following the main event is a light heavyweight co-main event pitting Rodolfo Bellato (12-2-1 MMA, 1-0-1 UFC) against Paul Craig (17-9-1 MMA, 9-9-1 UFC). This three-round bout will each last five minutes.
Bellato is eager to make a comeback with a 4-0-1 record in his recent fights, while Craig has struggled lately, having lost his last three bouts. Craig’s last victory dates back to September 2019, where he was on an unbeaten streak.
