Here’s what’s happening this week Inside The Garage:
The decision by 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports to enter an additional car for this week’s Daytona 500 indicates the positive outcome of their lawsuit against NASCAR, which was resolved before the start of the 2026 season.
Both teams had assured their staff that jobs would be safe in 2026 even if they lost the lawsuit, but the prospects of fielding multiple cars seemed grim at the time, raising doubts about their future in the sport.
With the lawsuit settled, employees can now feel secure as both organizations have their charters and a clearer outlook ahead.
“The resilience shown by our teams despite uncertainties has been remarkable,” said 23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace. “Now that this is behind us, I’m hopeful everyone can focus on what they do best.”
Following a lengthy arbitration process, both teams gained most of their desired results, including evergreen charters and improved bargaining with NASCAR, allowing them to move forward without the weight of legal concerns looming over them.
Looking ahead, NASCAR will not host races on the Charlotte road course again, opting instead for traditional oval events. This decision is seen as a positive shift to honor historical racing traditions as the competition returns to its roots.
