Offset Shot in Florida
Former Migos rapper Offset was reportedly shot while in Florida on Monday.
Details of the Incident
The 34-year-old rapper—an ex of Cardi B—was shot near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, according to TMZ.
Condition and Care
A representative for Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, confirmed that he had been shot but reassured that he was ‘fine’ after the incident. The severity of his injuries remains unclear, but sources indicated he is currently receiving medical care at a hospital and is stable.
Police Response and Investigation
The Seminole Police Department stated that the incident happened around 7 p.m. in the valet area outside the casino, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries to an individual who was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital. They mentioned that police quickly contained the situation and detained two suspects as the investigation continues.
Eyewitness Accounts
Witnesses indicated that Offset was mingling with fans near the entrance when he was approached by them just before the shooting occurred. Photos surfaced showing Offset smiling and interacting with fans moments before the tragic event.
Previous Tragedy in the Rap Community
This incident is particularly haunting as it comes more than three years after Takeoff, another member of Migos, was fatally shot outside a bowling alley in Houston. Patrick Xavier Clark has been charged in that case and is awaiting trial set for November.
Offset’s Career and Personal Life
Offset is known for his involvement with Migos, alongside fellow rapper Quavo, and has pursued a solo career since the group’s disbandment. He shares three children with Cardi B, maintaining a publicly tumultuous relationship since their marriage in 2017. Most recently, they have reportedly separated again.
