Rachel Zegler took home the Best Actress in a Musical award for her role in last summer’s acclaimed revival of Évita at the London Palladium. Rosamund Pike earned the Best Actress honor for her portrayal in the legal drama Inter Alia, written by Australian playwright Suzie Miller, which was performed at the National Theatre. Paapa Essiedu was awarded Best Actor in a Supporting Role for All My Sons, Arthur Miller’s 1946 play revival at Wyndham’s Theatre, which also won the Best Revival award.
Luke Sheppard claimed the Best Director award for Paddington The Musical. This popular adaptation also won Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical with Tom Edden, and the evening’s final accolade, Best New Musical, among other awards. The show was hosted at the Savoy Theatre.
During the ceremony, Zegler performed Don’t Cry for Me Argentina and received a standing ovation for her rendition. Coverage by Deadline’s Baz Bamigboye showcased the audience’s enthusiastic response from inside the venue.
