Officials at a Pennsylvania racetrack have suspended a driver after it was reported that he used his car in a dangerous manner. Port Royal Speedway formally suspended Taylor Farlling, a driver from Newville, Cumberland County, after he collided with another vehicle during a race on Saturday, June 28.
The track’s statement indicated that Farlling operated his car aggressively, violating the standards for safety and sportsmanship. Officials classified his actions as using a race car as a weapon, which is considered an extremely serious infraction by the speedway.
Drama on the Track
Footage from the race shows Farlling making contact with another driver before spinning out. While he was sitting in the middle of the track, another car collided with him. Farlling then reversed and drove headlong into the other vehicle again, leading one announcer to remark, “Now we just became a demolition derby here in turn four.”
As chaos unfolded, the other driver exited his vehicle with onlookers running onto the track to separate the racers. The dramatic incident was captured on video.
Details of the Suspension
- Farlling is prohibited from participating in all racing activities at Port Royal Speedway for the rest of the 2025 season and the entire 2026 season.
- He faces a fine that must be paid to the speedway before the 2027 race season begins, with the funds directed to the York County Racing Club’s Injured Driver’s Fund.
- To be eligible for reinstatement, Farlling must meet with the track’s race committee after the 2026 season.
Port Royal Speedway clarified that the intention behind publicizing these actions is to emphasize the serious nature of the incident and to affirm their commitment to a safe environment for all participants and spectators.
