Jajaira Gonzalez (Women’s 60 kg) and Rene Camacho (Men’s 65 kg) both secured narrow 3-2 victories in their tournament debuts on Wednesday at the World Boxing Challenge Grand Prix Usti Nad Labem 2025. They were the only representatives from Team USA competing on the tournament’s opening day and have now advanced to the quarterfinals in their categories.
Gonzalez Shines in International Debut
Gonzalez, hailing from Glendora, California, made her international debut memorable with a close 3-2 win against Croatia’s Sara Beram. She will face Italy’s Rebecca Nicoli in the quarterfinals of the women’s 60 kg division. A second victory would secure her a medal, but Gonzalez is aiming for the gold in this inaugural tournament.

Houston’s Rene Camacho stepped into the ring with assurance for his international debut, throwing the first punch as the match began. He delivered a stellar performance, achieving a 3-2 win over Hungary’s Milan Petriman.
