On September 30, 2022, ONE Fight Night 2 took place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. This event marks the continuation of ONE Fight Nights, which began in 2022 through Amazon Prime Video for audiences in the US and Canada, following a multi-year agreement that allows ONE to stream monthly events on Friday nights.
As with previous events, ONE Fight Night 2 kicked off with an undercard. The first match featured a heavyweight kickboxing battle between Rade Opacic and Giannis Stoforidis. The match progressed to the second round, where Opacic delivered a combination of punches that knocked Stoforidis down, prompting the referee to stop the fight. By 2025, Opacic had joined the GLORY Kickboxing roster.
Marat Grigorian Defeats Tayfun Ozcan in Featured Bout
The lead card featured victories from Anissa Meksen, who won by unanimous decision against Dangkongfah Banchamek in a Muay Thai match, and Oh Ho-Taek, who edged out Ryogo Takahashi by a split decision. The featured bout was a featherweight kickboxing showdown between Marat Grigorian and Tayfun Ozcan.
In this match, Grigorian increased the pace towards the end of the first round with powerful leg kicks. Although Ozcan had his moments, notably landing uppercuts, Grigorian’s varied striking and effective counterstriking ultimately led him to a victory, raising his hand in triumph by the end of the night.
Mikey Musumeci Wins Flyweight Submission Grappling Title
The co-main event featured the inaugural showdown for the ONE Flyweight Submission Grappling Championship, where Mikey Musumeci, known as “Darth Rigatoni,” faced Cleber Souza. Under the rules of ONE submission grappling, the first to achieve a submission in a 10-minute round would win, but without one, the most threatening submission attempts would be judged. Musumeci showed his dominance, winning by unanimous decision despite Souza’s valiant defense.
Xiong Jing Nan vs. Angela Lee in Main Event
The main event featured a championship bout for the ONE Women’s Strawweight MMA World Championship, with Xiong Jing Nan defending her title against challenger Angela Lee. This fight was the third encounter between the two fighters, with Xiong claiming victory in the first two encounters. Over five rounds, Xiong executed dominating strikes, including hammerfists and ground and pound, showcasing her defense against Lee’s attempts to turn the fight in her favor.
Despite Angela Lee’s efforts for a comeback in the later rounds, Xiong’s performance solidified her seventh title defense at 125 lbs, giving her a 2-1 edge in their rivalry. Notably, a year later, Angela Lee announced her retirement from MMA.
