Nancy Guthrie, Mother of “Today” Show Host, Missing in Arizona
Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, has been reported missing in Arizona. Authorities suspect she may have been abducted from her home while she was asleep, according to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos in a statement to CBS News.
“I believe she was abducted, yes,” Nanos stated. “She didn’t walk from there. She didn’t go willingly.” The sheriff emphasized that her disappearance is being treated as a criminal case, urging local residents to review any video footage from their security cameras.
“We found several concerning indicators at the home,” Nanos explained. “After investigating the crime scene, it is clear we are dealing with a crime, and we are seeking the community’s assistance.” Authorities have described Nancy as 5 feet, 5 inches tall, with brown hair, blue eyes, and weighing about 150 pounds.
Nancy, 84, is reported to have limited mobility and is in urgent need of her medication. “The clock is literally ticking,” Nanos noted, highlighting that over 24 hours have passed since she was last seen. He also assured that Nancy is mentally sharp and does not suffer from cognitive issues.
Nancy was last observed at her residence in the Catalina Foothills around 9:30 PM on Saturday. Family members became concerned when she didn’t attend church the following morning and subsequently sought help. While specific details about the investigation remain under wraps, Nanos indicated that suspicious circumstances at the scene have caught investigators’ attention.
The search efforts initially involved drones and helicopters but have since shifted focus to a criminal investigation. Authorities are meticulously combing through security camera footage from Nancy’s home and nearby areas to gather more information.
Guthrie’s family has called upon the local community to examine their security footage from the weekend, particularly between 1:00 AM and 4:00 AM on Sunday. Savannah Guthrie expressed gratitude for the public’s support and urged anyone with information to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
