KANSAS CITY — Spring Training Approaches
Spring Training is just around the corner, and many Kansas City Royals players are already training at their facility in Surprise, Arizona. Additional players will arrive next week, with activities intensifying by February 16.
Questions Surrounding the Royals
This season presents numerous questions for the Royals as they aim to be competitive. We’ll dive into these topics in our Spring Training report. Meanwhile, here’s a FAQ regarding what to expect at camp:
When is the first full-squad workout?
The first full-squad workout will occur on February 16, when all position players report. However, those participating in the World Baseball Classic will arrive prior to this date.
Where is the training facility located?
The Royals will conduct their 23rd Spring Training in Surprise at Surprise Stadium, situated at 15850 N. Bullard Ave. Their training complex, including fields for both Major and Minor League teams, is located on the northwest side of the stadium, near the third-base line. The Royals share this facility with the Texas Rangers, whose facilities are on the opposite side.
Are fans allowed to attend workouts?
Yes, fans can attend workouts, which is one of the most enjoyable aspects of Spring Training. Practices on the backfields are open to the public daily, with times varying according to the team’s schedule, typically morning workouts for the Major League club. Free parking is available at the stadium, and a walking path is accessible from the entrance off Buck O’Neil Way.
Who are some new additions to the team?
While several fan favorites will return in 2026, there are new players to watch. Outfielders Isaac Collins, Lane Thomas, and Kameron Misner have joined the roster. The pitching staff welcomes Alex Lange, Nick Mears, Matt Strahm, and Mason Black. Additionally, experienced infielders Brandon Drury, Kevin Newman, Josh Rojas, and Abraham Toro are notable non-roster invitees.
