Pittsburgh Steelers Announce 2025 Rookie Minicamp Roster
The Pittsburgh Steelers have unveiled their roster for the upcoming 2025 rookie minicamp, which kicks off a three-day weekend of practice.
Rookie Minicamp Composition
The rookie minicamp roster includes all seven draft picks from the 2025 NFL Draft, seven undrafted free agents (UDFAs), select first-year players, and various tryout athletes, consisting of both rookies and a few veterans. In total, the team has invited 45 players to participate in the camp, comprised of 15 rookies, five veterans, and 25 tryout participants.
Highlights from the Rookie Class
This camp will provide the first glimpse of draft picks such as Derrick Harmon, Kaleb Johnson, Jack Sawyer, Yahya Black, Will Howard, Carson Bruener, and Donte Kent in Steelers gear. It will also be an opportunity to observe the undrafted free agents, including Sebastian Castro, DJ Thomas-Jones, Aiden Williams, Ben Sauls, Ke’Shawn Williams, Roc Taylor, and JJ Galbreath.
Focus on DJ Thomas-Jones
Among the UDFAs, DJ Thomas-Jones stands out, having received the largest guaranteed signing bonus for a non-QB UDFA in team history. While he is projected to play as a fullback, it will be interesting to see how he is utilized throughout the minicamp, as he is currently listed as a fullback on the roster.
Notable Tryout Players
One tryout player to watch is Gareth Warren from Lindenwood, who has garnered attention after competing in the 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl. Although he was undrafted, he brings considerable size and versatility, having transitioned from guard to left tackle in his last two seasons.
Other Tryout Athletes
Several other intriguing invitees include Hollis Mathis from William & Mary, who has experience playing multiple positions, and North Texas cornerback Ridge Texada, who holds the school record for pass defenses. Additionally, linebacker Debo Williams from South Carolina and center Thomas Perry from Middlebury, both of whom had impressive college careers, are trying out with the Steelers.
Veterans Joining the Minicamp
Several seasoned players are also participating in the rookie minicamp, including running back Trey Sermon, who has experience with multiple NFL teams, as well as cornerback Mikey Victor and long snapper Taybor Pepper. Their presence will add depth and experience to the tryout roster.
