FORT WORTH – The Horned Frogs have made a triumphant return to the NCAA Tournament, securing their first victory in nearly 20 years.
Madison Conner led the charge with 23 points as the No. 2 seed TCU defeated No. 15 Fairleigh Dickinson, 73-51, advancing to the round of 32 at Schollmaier Arena on Friday.
TCU displayed impressive shooting, hitting 63 percent of their shots (26-41) during the last three quarters. Conner was one of four players who scored in double digits for the Horned Frogs.
Another standout, Sedona Prince, recorded a double-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks. Hailey Van Lith contributed 13 points, while Agnes Emma-Nnopu added 10 points.
With this victory, TCU improved their NCAA Tournament record to six wins and celebrated their first win since 2006. The team now prepares to face either No. 7 Louisville or No. 10 Nebraska on Sunday, aiming to become the first in school history to reach the Sweet 16.
Conner’s performance peaked in the second quarter, where she scored 10 points, helping to build a lead over the Knights (29-4) who had briefly taken control of the game at 17-14. TCU entered halftime with a 35-27 advantage.
The Frogs maintained their lead with solid performances from Prince and Conner, finishing the third quarter with a commanding 52-35 advantage. TCU’s defense was prevalent, holding FDU well below their season scoring average while limiting them to just one three-pointer out of 11 attempts. Prince’s double-double also marked an important milestone, making her the fifth player in TCU’s history to achieve this in the NCAA Tournament.
