Tennis Best Bets for Thursday, June 19th – Queen’s Club, Halle & Berlin
We’re currently in the brief grass-court segment of the 2025 tennis season, which means Wimbledon is just around the corner, a premier event in the sports calendar. This week features three 500-level tournaments: the HSBC Championships at Queen’s Club, the Terra Wortmann Open in Halle, and the Berlin Tennis Open for the women’s tournament in Germany. Let’s dive into some suggested bets for Thursday, June 19th.
Be sure to check the Pro Picks page throughout the day for Gill Alexander’s best bets. Gill excels at analyzing tennis matches on A Numbers Game, part of our live VSiN programming. While I will share as many picks as I can, occasional updates will be made to that page, including smaller ATP and WTA events, as well as my exclusive Challenger-level plays.
Fabian Marozsan vs. Tomas Machac – Halle
Machac is showcasing the potential of a top-10 talent with his good movement, powerful backhand, and aggressive playing style. However, he has struggled with injuries, particularly on grass, owning a record of 2-4 on this surface. His recent performance against Jesper De Jong left much to be desired, so it’s surprising to see Marozsan listed at favorable odds.
Marozsan, while not a grass-court expert either, seems poised for improvement. His serve is holding at an impressive 85.9% this season, coupled with a strong forehand and effective dropshot, suggesting positive prospects for his grass-court journey.
Despite Machac’s previous victory over Marozsan last year (7-6 (5), 6-1), this season presents a different scenario. Marozsan is playing some of the best tennis of his career and has developed a consistent rhythm that Machac lacks. I believe Marozsan’s serving ability will be crucial in this matchup, making it worth a shot.
If you decide to take this bet with me, consider placing it at FanDuel or any site that counts a first-set retirement as a win. Although Machac finished his last match, he had experienced back-to-back retirements previously and has faced five retirements this year, raising concerns about his physical endurance.
Bet: Marozsan ML (+112)
Gabriel Diallo vs. Jiri Lehecka – Queen’s Club
I initially expected Lehecka to falter against Alex de Minaur, but he managed a convincing victory, winning 6-4, 6-2. Lehecka’s impressive serve and baseline power created challenges for de Minaur, even considering de Minaur’s strong defensive skills. Given this, I anticipate Lehecka to prevail against Diallo.
Diallo recently clinched his first title, defeating notable players like Karen Khachanov and Ugo Humbert. While this win signifies growth for the young athlete, it is often challenging to maintain high performance immediately following a title. He faced a tough battle against Billy Harris, winning 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, and I believe if he plays at that level against Lehecka, he may fall short.
Moreover, I don’t see Diallo’s serving advantage being enough to offset Lehecka’s stronger baseline game and ball-striking consistency.
Bet: Lehecka ML (-160)
