Tom Brady Responds to Diet Critics
Tom Brady spoke out against those who criticized his formerly strict NFL diet, humorously noting that he now allows himself some treats post-retirement.
“I think everything is about moderation,” the 48-year-old told CNBC during an interview regarding his partnership with Ferrero. “People have exaggerated my strict lifestyle and diet.”
Brady emphasized his attempt to make healthy choices while still enjoying family moments, sharing, “I have kids and enjoy Halloween and birthday parties. We’re a normal family. But I also recognize that life happens, especially while traveling or attending football games.”
In a recent FIFA World Cup ad for Ferrero, Brady can be seen enjoying a Nestle Crunch bar and Butterfingers while admitting he sometimes shares sweets with his children: Jack, 18, Benjamin, 16, and Vivian, 13. “I occasionally make Nutella pancakes for them,” he disclosed, recalling a time they enjoyed Nutella pizzas in Milan during the Olympics.
Historically, Brady avoided various food groups, such as white sugar, white flour, dairy, iodized salt, caffeine, and he didn’t eat nightshade vegetables or strawberries. While his eating habits have loosened post-retirement, he maintains a balanced routine filled with exercise and hydration.
Brady’s New Fitness Regimen
In 2024, Brady showcased his fitness routine on Instagram, highlighting new swimming workouts to enhance his physicality. He described his regimen, which includes swimming four 100-meter laps in freestyle and completing a series of weightlifting exercises.
Since retiring in 2022, Brady has experienced a leaner physique, attributing it to reduced stress levels in his life. “I’m down about 10 pounds but feel quite fit,” he noted during a 2023 episode of the “Let’s Go” podcast. “The reduced stress has allowed me to prioritize my physical health more effectively.”
