Although they did not reach the World Series, the Brewers experienced one of their most successful seasons in recent years. Milwaukee secured 97 victories, including two win streaks of over 11 games, marking a franchise first. They also triumphed over their division rivals, the Chicago Cubs, in the NLDS.
With many thrilling moments throughout the season, narrowing the 100 wins down to just five was a challenge. My initial selection included 13 games, which would have made this article lengthy. However, Harrison suggested a smaller list. Therefore, here are the five seven standout Brewers games from the 2025 season.
Honorable Mentions:
June 25 — Brewers 4, Pirates 2: This was arguably the best Pirates-Brewers game in recent memory, mainly due to the matchup between Jacob Misiorowski and Paul Skenes. Misiorowski, in just his third professional start, outperformed one of the league’s top pitchers, Skenes, who would finish the season with stellar stats and likely win the NL Cy Young Award.
October 4 — Brewers 9, Cubs 3 (NLDS Game 1): This game receives an honorable mention due to Jackson Chourio’s hamstring injury. Despite high expectations for a close contest, Milwaukee dominated, knocking Cubs starter Matthew Boyd out early and scoring nine runs in the first two innings, setting a positive tone for the series.
#5: August 1 — Brewers 16, Nationals 9: Though this matchup had little significance, it was incredibly entertaining. William Contreras secured five hits, Blake Perkins hit two home runs, and Andruw Monasterio contributed significantly, leading to a total of 25 hits from the Brewers. This game also set the stage for an exciting August, which included a franchise-record for consecutive wins.
#4: August 10 — Brewers 7, Mets 6: This thrilling game extended Milwaukee’s winning streak to nine. After falling behind, the Brewers rallied with clutch hits from William Contreras, tying the game late. Isaac Collins clinched the victory with a walk-off homer, solidifying the team’s momentum as they continued their successful streak.
#3: September 14 — Brewers 9, Cardinals 8: This game featured another impressive comeback marked by a walk-off hit in the 10th inning. After trailing 6-1, Milwaukee rallied back with infield hits and a last-minute double by Caleb Durbin to tie the game. Andruw Monasterio ended it dramatically with a single on the tenth pitch of his at-bat, also celebrating the team’s playoff clinch that day.
#2: August 17 — Brewers 6, Reds 5: This game was monumental as it set a franchise record with a 14-game winning streak. After trailing for most of the contest, a crucial error in the ninth allowed the Brewers to tie up. William Contreras scored the go-ahead run in the 10th, and despite a tied score in the 11th, the team managed to escape with a victory and a saved game for Nick Mears.
#1: October 12 — Brewers 3, Cubs 1 (NLDS Game 5): This game stands out not only for its excitement, featuring strong performances and multiple home runs by the Brewers, but also for its significance. Facing elimination, Milwaukee secured their first playoff series win since 2018 by defeating their arch-rivals, the Chicago Cubs, sending them home for the season. It’s a strong foundation for future seasons.
