Toprak Razgatlioglu Joins Private Jerez Test
Pramac MotoGP rookie Toprak Razgatlioglu participated in this week’s private test at Jerez alongside test riders from Yamaha, KTM, Aprilia, and Ducati.
The reigning WorldSBK champion utilized Yamaha’s concession status, which permits private testing with race riders.
While Yamaha typically refrains from commenting on private tests, Razgatlioglu shared a social media post thanking the team that featured a V4 motorcycle equipped with Michelin tires.
Development Opportunities at Jerez
The Jerez test was characterized by a mix of Michelin and Pirelli tires, suggesting that some manufacturers could be exploring the development of future 850cc models, particularly KTM, which tested its 2027 prototype at the venue back in December.
Next Steps for Razgatlioglu
Razgatlioglu, who ended his first MotoGP weekend in 17th position at Buriram—finishing ahead of teammate Jack Miller—will next be on the M1 during the opening practice for the inaugural round in Goiania, Brazil.
The new location, lacking any prior testing, levels the playing field for Razgatlioglu and fellow rookie Diogo Moreira against their more seasoned MotoGP counterparts.
Future Prospects
Razgatlioglu’s presence at the Jerez test also opens the possibility for him to debut in MotoGP using Pirelli tires, a brand with which he has achieved significant success in WorldSBK.
It remains uncertain whether Pramac team-mate Jack Miller or faced Yamaha riders Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins will be present for the upcoming tests.
MotoGP Schedule and Events
As the 2026 MotoGP World Championship progresses, round two is set to take place in Goiania, Brazil, from March 20-22. The next European private test is not anticipated until after the fourth round in Qatar, a race that is currently in jeopardy. Meanwhile, Jerez is slated to host the first European race weekend of the year from April 24-26.
