Igor Tudor disclosed that he consulted his Juventus players about their preferred playing styles, stating he followed their instincts while also implementing his own contrasting strategies compared to Thiago Motta.
Under Tudor, the Bianconeri have maintained an unbeaten streak, celebrating narrow home victories against Genoa and Lecce and a draw against Roma.
In the latest match, Juventus scored two well-executed goals early on, with Dusan Vlahovic assisting both Teun Koopmeiners and Kenan Yildiz. However, a late header from Federico Baschirotto made the ending more tense than expected for the Turin team.
“We could have closed the game earlier; the last ten minutes were poor. Khephren Thuram lost possession, leading to the conceded goal, and the players became anxious,” Tudor stated in an interview with Sky Sport Italia.
He emphasized that despite the anxiety, the team performed well for most of the match and should regard the situation as a lesson. Tudor praised Koopmeiners for his goal after being reinstated in the starting lineup, stating that he is moving in the right direction.
Tudor’s Influence on Juventus
After the dismissal of Thiago Motta, Tudor noted that the team was experiencing psychological and physical challenges due to recent heavy defeats and early exits from competitions. He explained that his coaching style requires specific physical preparation to match his preference for a fast-paced, wide game.
Several players have seen changes in their positions under Tudor’s leadership, including Koopmeiners, who is now playing as a trequartista, and Nico Gonzalez, who has moved to the right flank.
Tudor also explained that recent training focused on executing specific techniques, contributing to improved teamwork and enjoyment on the field. With the victory, Juventus is positioned favorably for fourth place, as other teams are set to face each other, increasing their opportunities to climb the standings.
When asked about his future with the club and possible contract extensions, Tudor responded, “I am very content to be at Juventus, and I prefer to focus on one day at a time.”
