Dominika Paurová Joins Kentucky’s Roster
Describing herself as a “dynamic player,” Dominika Paurová was a valuable addition to Kentucky coach Kenny Brooks’s roster during his inaugural year at UK last season.
Background and Statistics
The Czech Republic native participated in 35 games at Oregon State during the 2023-2024 season, averaging 5.5 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and playing 16.4 minutes per game for an Elite Eight team. Her shooting percentages were impressive, at 48% overall and 37% from beyond the arc.
Injury and Recovery
Paurová missed last season after suffering a knee injury while competing with her national team against Iceland in Bulgaria last summer, necessitating surgery. She arrived in Lexington in mid-August 2024 and spent the year rehabilitating her knee.
Readiness to Contribute
Now fully recovered, she aims to fill the gap left by All-American guard Georgia Amoore and shooting guard Dazia Lawrence, who were part of last year’s team that achieved a fourth-place finish in the SEC and secured a victory in the NCAA Tournament.
A Passion for Sports
Paurová has deep roots in sports—her father, Martin Paur, played professionally in the Czech Republic, while her mother enjoys basketball recreationally. She has been involved in various sports since childhood, excelling in swimming as a five-time national champion and even reaching third place in Czech nationals for skiing in 2016.
Multilingual Skills and Family Ties
Fluent in Czech, English, and Russian, and learning Spanish, Paurová’s language skills reflect her diverse background. Her family remains an integral part of her life, with her mother assisting her with wake-up calls, emphasizing their strong connection despite the distance.
Future Aspirations
After an extensive and varied athletic career, including experiences in competitive water rescue and various sports, Paurová is excited to contribute to her new team. Her determination and enthusiastic spirit are clear as she prepares for the upcoming season.
