Kenneth Walker III Joins the Kansas City Chiefs
Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III has finalized a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Contract Details
Walker has signed a three-year contract worth $43.05 million, with $28.7 million fully guaranteed, per ESPN’s Brady Henderson.
Additional Chiefs Acquisition
The Chiefs have also signed defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga, formerly of the New England Patriots. Tonga’s deal is for three years at $21 million, including $14 million guaranteed as confirmed by his agents to NFL Network.
Chiefs’ Focus on Rushing Attack
The Chiefs aimed to bolster their rushing game during the offseason. Walker was particularly appealing due to his dynamic ability, even in challenging situations created by the Seahawks’ offensive line. Last season, Walker was credited with forcing 61 missed tackles and achieving ten runs of 20 or more yards.
Walker’s Stellar Season
Walker’s MVP performance in Super Bowl LX capped a remarkable season with the Seahawks. He was drafted in the second round (41st overall) in 2022 and surpassed 1,100 scrimmage yards with nine touchdowns in his first two seasons, despite some injury setbacks.
Improved Health and Performance
After making lifestyle changes in the previous offseason, Walker maintained his health throughout 2025 and recorded a career-high 1,309 scrimmage yards while averaging 4.6 yards per carry. His performance improved over the season, particularly following an injury to teammate Zach Charbonnet.
Chiefs Looking Forward
With Walker’s arrival and the return of offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, the Chiefs are expected to diversify their rushing strategy in 2026. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes expressed enthusiasm for Walker’s signing, while Walker’s explosive running ability has gained attention, marking him as a key addition for the team.
