If you’re looking to capitalize on this event to grow your DFS bankroll, DraftKings.com has a variety of contests, including a $500k UFC 327 Special with $100k for the top spot. Contestants are given a budget of $50,000 to choose six fighters, with scoring details outlined at the bottom of the article. Now, let’s dive into the fights…
Main Event – Light Heavyweight Championship
Jiri Prochazka (32-5-1) vs. Carlos Ulberg (14-1-0)
DK Salaries: Prochazka ($8,200), Ulberg ($8,000)
Vegas Odds: Prochazka (-120), Ulberg (+100)
With Alex Pereira vacating the 205-pound title for an interim heavyweight title shot against Ciryl Gane in June, Prochazka and Ulberg are set to battle for the undisputed title.
Jiri has competed in the UFC for nearly six years, marking this as his fourth title bout. He holds a record of 1-2 in the previous three, having beaten Glover Teixeira and lost to Pereira twice. Despite being 33, Prochazka remains at his peak, known for both his fighting excellence and entertainment value, making him an obvious candidate for a title fight.
On the other hand, Carlos Ulberg, who will turn 36 in November, has only 15 professional bouts to his name and has managed to avoid significant damage in fights. After a knockout loss in his UFC debut against Kennedy Nzechukwu, he has clawed back with nine consecutive wins. However, he has yet to face the elite in his division.
Co-Main Event – Light Heavyweight
Azamat Murzakanov (16-0-0) vs. Paulo Costa (15-4-0)
DK Salaries: Murzakanov ($8,900), Costa ($7,300)
Vegas Odds: Murzakanov (-200), Costa (+165)
This matchup was adjusted to the co-main event slot after the Joshua Van versus Tatsuro Taira flyweight fight was rescheduled. Costa will make his second appearance at light heavyweight after a previous loss to Marvin Vettori and a mixed record at middleweight, which may affect his power at 205 pounds. Meanwhile, Murzakanov has shown remarkable effectiveness in the cage, boasting a perfect record in the UFC, including five knockout victories.
The fight may quickly become a striking contest. While Costa has a reputation as a powerful striker, his recent performances suggest he may struggle against a formidable opponent like Murzakanov, who is known for his relentless gameplay. If it turns into a striking affair, my instinct is that Costa could be in trouble.
Heavyweight
Curtis Blaydes (19-5-0, 1NC) vs. Josh Hokit (8-0-0)
DK Salaries: Blaydes ($8,400), Hokit ($7,800)
Vegas Odds: Blaydes (-140), Hokit (+120)
Blaydes has been a consistent presence in the heavyweight division but has struggled in crucial fights, recording a mixed bag recently. Hokit, a promising newcomer, presents a significant challenge due to his athletic background, but he will face a much more seasoned opponent in Blaydes. If Blaydes can return to his grappling roots and effectively utilize his athleticism, he may emerge victorious. However, it’s unclear if he can revert to his former style, making for an interesting matchup.
Light Heavyweight
Dominick Reyes (15-5-0) vs. Johnny Walker (22-9-0, 1NC)
DK Salaries: Reyes ($8,300), Walker ($7,900)
Vegas Odds: Reyes (-135), Walker (+115)
This bout is intriguing, considering both fighters’ inconsistent performance records. Reyes, despite appearing on the path to a title shot after a controversial loss to Jon Jones, now finds himself under pressure after multiple losses. Walker mirrors this trajectory, having lost a series of fights but showing potential to perform at his best when called upon. Height and reach advantages might come into play, but both will likely engage aggressively in pursuit of a quick finish.
