Yash Dhull’s Incredible Comeback: Two DPL Centuries and a Duleep Trophy Call-Up.

Yash Dhull celebrates one of his centuries in DPL 2025.
A year into the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025, Yash Dhull has scored two centuries and amassed over 350 runs in six matches, showcasing a remarkable 172 strike rate with 16 sixes and 44 fours. His performance is all the more impressive given the health struggles he faced between seasons.
Dhull was sidelined from the inaugural DPL due to a heart condition, specifically a 17 mm hole that required surgery. Despite initially attempting a comeback post-operation, his body could not handle it.
“The doctor made it clear that surgery was my only option. I spent a month bedridden, battling strong medications that hindered my recovery. My heart rate and blood pressure were erratic, which forced me to take a step back,” Dhull recounted in an interview with CNN-News18 CricketNext.
Recognizing that rushing back could lead to severe consequences, he took his time to heal before rejoining the Delhi Ranji Trophy team, where he proved his mettle with an unbeaten 105 against Tamil Nadu at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in October 2024.
“That match was pivotal for me. The pressure was high against a formidable opponent, and many doubted my ability to last the entire game. But I persevered and reached a century; it remains one of my proudest moments,” Dhull expressed.
Now flourishing in the DPL 2025 with a desire to establish his presence, Dhull has acknowledged the tournament’s significance in revitalizing his career after a hiatus caused by surgery. His selection for the North Zone squad for the Duleep Trophy marks a new chapter, as he views this as another chance to make a mark.
“Participating in the Duleep Trophy is a huge opportunity for me. It serves as an essential platform to showcase my skills and could potentially reshape my career,” he stated. Dhull emphasizes his newfound focus on living in the moment, prioritizing each opportunity without dwelling on past setbacks or future uncertainties.
