Concerns About the Offensive Line
While trying to remain optimistic, I’m worried about the offensive line’s performance in 2025, which was inconsistent and fell short compared to competitors. This has resulted in a lackluster run game and an unpredictable pass attack. With the 2026 season approaching, the Packers risk losing their starting left tackle alongside both starting and backup centers. Faced with limited draft picks and no room for major free agency signings, do they need to rely on inexperienced backups?
Addressing Offensive Line Depth
The Packers need to focus on strengthening their offensive line. The situation surrounding Elgton Jenkins‘ contract adds complexity. Both Rasheed Walker and Sean Rhyan are set to enter free agency, and I doubt the team can afford to keep both. The overall depth of this unit remains a concern, and their choices may significantly impact the team in 2026.
Enhancing Cornerback Performance
This is a crucial area needing assessment, especially as depth has been a consistent problem. Increasing depth fosters competition, leading to improvement. We need to explore strategies for enhancing talent and depth at cornerback, especially given our current salary cap situation and other pressing needs, like the offensive line.
Drafting Cornerbacks
As Carrington Valentine and Keisean Nixon have potential, we must prioritize upgrading our cornerback lineup. With no significant drafted cornerback prospects from recent years, the next draft could see multiple picks used to address this issue, contingent on what happens in free agency.
Receiver Situation
I would be shocked if Romeo Doubs returns, especially after the team drafted two receivers last year and given his potential $20M market value. Nonetheless, he has proven to be a reliable target for Love. As we think about our unrestricted free agents (UFAs), who do you believe we should prioritize keeping or letting go?
Future Projections
While these are important questions, it’s still early in the process. We may see some veterans released to create cap space, and we’ll begin to estimate what UFAs might fetch in the market. Key UFAs like Doubs, R. Walker, Quay Walker, Rhyan, and Kingsley Enagbare will likely not all return, but I anticipate that at least one to three will. The team also has eight restricted free agents (RFAs) this year, which will require significant tender offers.
