Igor Tudor’s First Words as Interim Head Coach of Tottenham Hotspur
In his first interview since becoming the interim head coach of Tottenham Hotspur, Igor Tudor shared his goals for the team.
The 47-year-old Croatian was appointed until the end of the season following the sacking of Thomas Frank, who had a brief stint with the club. Tudor aims to rally the struggling Spurs, currently positioned 16th and just five points above the relegation zone.
Tudor’s first challenge will be during a crucial North London Derby on Sunday, with reigning favorites Mikel Arteta’s squad visiting.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Tudor remarked, “It’s a significant challenge and an honor to be here. My focus is entirely on the work ahead, building relationships with the team and the club.” He emphasized the need for the players to regain their confidence and courage during this difficult time.
He acknowledged the challenges posed by injuries within the squad and stressed the importance of effective training. “The key is what we do in training; match day is a result of our preparation,” Tudor stated, aiming to foster an offensive, organized style of play.
Looking ahead, Tudor aims to establish a physical and competitive side, noting the evolution of football in recent years. “In today’s game, physicality is paramount,” he explained, emphasizing the need for motivated players. Ultimately, Tudor aspires for a blend of offensive play backed by smart strategies, noting that every match should aim for victory.
