Birthed Carlos Ray Norris in 1940 in Ryan, Oklahoma, he relocated with his family to Torrance, California at age 12. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he began studying martial arts while stationed in South Korea. Upon returning home, he became a six-time World Professional Middleweight Karate champion and opened a martial arts studio.
Film and Television Success
Norris made a significant mark on Hollywood beginning with his role alongside Bruce Lee in 1972’s The Way of the Dragon. He continued to feature in numerous martial arts and action films, including Missing in Action and Walker, Texas Ranger, which ran for eight seasons. His recent projects included roles in The Expendables 2 and upcoming films like Agent Recon.
