It’s not back… well, sort of. I can hear the groans, “Hey Berry, didn’t you say a dramatic goodbye to Love/Hate last year?” The answer is yes, I did, and the regular season edition is indeed retired. However, I mentioned I’d do a preseason edition, and there’s one coming in August, along with occasional one-offs like this. So here we are today, clearly not done yet!
This is truly a one-off, but there’ll be another after the NFL draft. By the way, have you checked out the extensive FantasyLife.com NFL Draft preview? It’s ridiculously detailed and completely free. You should definitely take a look here! With Fantasy Life and Connor Rogers’ draft rankings here, you’ll be well-prepared for the 2026 NFL Draft and your fantasy leagues.
Quarterbacks I Love After Free Agency
Kyler Murray, Minnesota
The breakup between Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals was overdue. But now, transitioning to an offense with stars like Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison should boost his game. Murray has consistently been a top 12 QB in points per game when healthy and has the motivation to shine on a one-year deal. With comfortable conditions indoors and being healthy, he’s poised to perform under QB coach Kevin O’Connell, making him a top 12 fantasy QB if he starts.
Malik Willis, Miami
After moving from Green Bay to Miami, Malik Willis brings his strong legs to the Dolphins. In his six starts, he averaged nearly 45 rushing yards and showed promise with 23.3 fantasy points per game. Despite the loss of Jaylen Waddle, his running ability should lead to favorable game scripts for him, positioning him as a high-end QB2 for the 2026 season.
Quarterbacks I Dislike After Free Agency
Jayden Daniels, Washington
As a devoted Commanders fan, it pains me to say that the wide receiver depth behind Terry McLaurin looks weak after free agency. With the loss of key players and a questionable offensive line, Daniels could find it hard to succeed. Although I still see him as a mid-tier fantasy QB1 due to his talent, the surrounding circumstances diminish his prospects.
J.J. McCarthy, Minnesota
Referencing Kyler Murray again, it’s clear that McCarthy’s performance last season was subpar, ranking last in passer rating and completion percentage. With the Vikings actively pursuing a veteran QB, it seems evident that Murray is the favored starter, leaving McCarthy unranked for 2026.
Running Backs I Love After Free Agency
Kenneth Walker, Kansas City
Kansas City picking up the reigning Super Bowl MVP in free agency showcases their commitment to boosting their run game. Kenneth Walker stands out as the clear RB1, averaging over 108 scrimmage yards in games where he had significant touches. In an offense that thrives in the red zone, expect Walker to achieve low-end RB1 status with high upside.
