Alex Pereira has regained the light heavyweight title.
Last weekend at the UFC 320 event hosted at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Pereira avenged his defeat against Magomed Ankalaev, elevating him to No. 6 in the official pound-for-pound rankings. Meanwhile, Ankalaev fell four places to No. 11. He now shares the No. 1 position at 205 pounds with Jiri Prochazka, who defeated former title contender Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 320.
In other rankings updates, middleweight fighter Joe Pyfer made his entrance into the middleweight rankings at No. 15 following his victory over Abus Magomedov on the UFC 320 main card. Additionally, Youssef Zalal’s victory against Josh Emmett propelled him two spots in the featherweight rankings. In women’s bantamweight, Yana Santos cracked the Top 5 after defeating an overweight Macy Chiasson.
The rankings are determined by a panel of media members who vote on the top fighters in the UFC by weight class and pound-for-pound positioning. Only active fighters can be considered for votes, and champions are regarded as the top contenders in their divisions, hence are not part of the weight-class voting. However, they can still be included in pound-for-pound rankings.
