SPOILER ALERT: This summary contains details from Season 14, Episode 4 of “The Masked Singer,” themed with “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” which aired on January 28, on Fox.
Cowabunga! On “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Night,” “The Masked Singer” eliminated its latest contestant. Comedian Claudia Oshry, known from the Instagram account @GirlWithNoJob and the podcast “The Toast,” was revealed.
Oshry, as Queen Corgi, performed “Unstoppable” by Sia in this episode, following her previous rendition of “Don’t Rain on My Parade” by Barbra Streisand in the Season 14 premiere. Rather than being voted off, she chose to withdraw from the competition.
Speaking to Variety, Oshry revealed that her decision stemmed from the demands of motherhood, stating, “I moved my whole family out there. I had a four-month-old. I was pumping in the trailer, and it started to take its toll… Ultimately, I decided this has fulfilled a dream.”
The unique way in which she exited didn’t allow for a final guess from the panelists, including Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg. Earlier in the show, guesses varied from Amy Schumer to Whitney Cummings.
Oshry noted she communicated her intention to leave to producers, while the judges were kept in the dark. “The producers were mostly women… They told me that this was an option, and I felt like we reached a great understanding,” she said.
This marks the second instance in the show’s history where a contestant opted to unmask themselves; during Season 4, Mickey Rourke similarly decided to reveal himself after his performance.
Celebrating the 40th anniversary of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” the episode had Jeong sing the franchise’s theme song. Contestants like Galaxy Girl, Cat Witch, and 14 Karat Carrot will advance to the next round, while notable contestants like Oshry further enrich this season, alongside host Nick Cannon and returning judges.
