Injury Report for Steelers Ahead of Tonight’s Game
The Steelers will be without several key players for tonight’s matchup, notably linebacker T.J. Watt, who has been ruled out due to a lung issue.
Update from Coach Tomlin
Head Coach Mike Tomlin provided an update on Watt’s condition last week. “He underwent a medical procedure yesterday and has since been discharged from the hospital,” Tomlin stated. “He is at home and resting comfortably, which is positive news from a medical perspective.”
Watt’s Participation Status
However, Tomlin confirmed that Watt will not participate in Monday’s game. “I do not know how long he will be sidelined,” he added. “I haven’t looked past Monday night, focusing week by week; I can confirm he won’t be playing this week.”
Next Man Up Mentality
In Watt’s absence, Nick Herbig is expected to play a more significant role against the Dolphins. “T.J. has been an exceptional leader, not only in our room but throughout the team,” Herbig expressed. “I’m confident we have the talent and leadership to compensate for his absence.”
Defense Adjustments
Linebacker Jack Sawyer is also anticipated to step up, stating, “I feel I’m improving every week and becoming more comfortable with our scheme. I’m eager to contribute to the team’s success.”
O-Line Challenges
Additionally, left tackle Andrus Peat is out with a concussion, forcing Dylan Cook from the practice squad into action. Offensive tackle Troy Fautanu praised Cook for being mentally prepared and performing confidently during the last game.
Outlook and Team Unity
The Steelers face challenges with key players out, but there is optimism within the team to maintain performance standards. “Injuries are simply part of the game,” Fautanu added. “Our close-knit offensive line is crucial for overcoming these obstacles.”
