UFC Vegas 111 DraftKings DFS Overview
If you’re looking to enhance your DFS bankroll during this event, DraftKings.com offers a variety of contests, including a $300k UFC Throwdown with $100k for first place. Participants have a budget of $50,000 to select six fighters, with scoring rules detailed at the end. Let’s dive into the matchups…
Main Event – Welterweight Bout
Gabriel Bonfim (18-1-0) vs. Randy Brown (20-6-0)
DK Salaries: Bonfim ($8,600), Brown ($7,600)
Odds: Bonfim (-180), Brown (+140)
The fight was initially scheduled for mid-October in Rio de Janeiro but was moved to headline this event. Bonfim has a history in Brazil’s regional circuit, and after a stint in LFA, he made his UFC debut in early 2023, currently holding a 5-1 record, with his only loss being by knockout to Nicolas Dalby. Notably, Bonfim’s most recent match against Stephen Thompson required a controversial split decision.
I have been a longtime supporter of Brown, who, despite recently turning 35, remains competitive with an 8-2 record in his last ten. His losses were respectful, with one being a split decision and the other a submission to the current UFC Welterweight Champion Jack Della Maddalena.
Bonfim’s approach heavily relies on his wrestling, averaging 4.03 takedowns per 15 minutes, but Brown’s solid takedown defense and physical size could challenge Bonfim’s game plan. If Bonfim can’t secure takedowns, I believe Brown could outwork him during the five rounds.
Although Bonfim is favored, I think the odds are overrated at -180, closer to -130. I see this matchup as tightly contested. For me, Brown as the underdog makes sense this week.
UFC VEGAS 111 PICK: Brown
Co-Main Event – Flyweight Clash
Matt Schnell (17-9-0, 1NC) vs. Joseph Morales (14-2-0)
DK Salaries: Schnell ($6,700), Morales ($9,300)
Odds: Schnell (+200), Morales (-265)
Schnell’s performance has been declining, with three consecutive losses before a recent win against Jimmy Flick. As he approaches 36, he seems to be a mid-tier fighter. Morales, who previously fought in the UFC, returned after winning The Ultimate Fighter flyweight tournament but raises concerns due to limited recent competition.
Despite Schnell’s effective pace and physical advantages, his durability is questionable. Morales shares similar concerns regarding power, with few notable wins in his career. Although Morales is the favorite, I consider his current price to be poor value.
UFC VEGAS 111 PICK: Morales
Additional Matches and Final Picks
Welterweight
Muslim Salikhov (22-5-0) vs. Uros Medic (11-3-0)
DK Salaries: Salikhov ($7,400), Medic ($8,800)
Odds: Salikhov (+145), Medic (-190)
After a tough stretch, Salikhov has found success recently, but Medic is known for his exciting fights and knockout power. While Salikhov’s technical striking is impressive, Medic’s aggressive approach raises questions. Given the odds, I’m leaning towards Salikhov as a solid pick.
UFC VEGAS 111 PICK: Salikhov
Lastly, in the bantamweight division, I choose Ricky Simon (22-6-0) against Raoni Barcelos (20-5-0). Simon may pose risks but holds potential for success, while Barcelos has struggled recently. UFC VEGAS 111 PICK: Simon
