DeMarvion Overshown’s Determined Comeback
FRISCO, Texas — DeMarvion Overshown has successfully returned from a major knee injury and emerged as one of the NFL’s top young linebackers, and he is gearing up to do it again.
After recovering from a torn ACL that sidelined him during his rookie season with the Dallas Cowboys in 2023, he showcased Pro Bowl-level performance in 2024. Unfortunately, he faced another setback with a torn ACL in his other knee later in the season. However, with an optimistic outlook and rooted in faith, Overshown is determined to return to the field before the end of the 2025 season.
He aims for a rapid return to the exceptional form he displayed in 2024, expecting no decline in his performance.
“I anticipate no drop in my performance,” Overshown stated in an exclusive interview, clearly outlining his aspirations for 2025. “I not only want to be nominated but aim to be the [NFL] Comeback Player of the Year.”
Based on his previous comeback, Overshown appears well-positioned to accomplish this goal in the upcoming months. While the road to recovery has its challenges, he finds confidence in being familiar with the rehab process, which was a new experience for him in 2023.
He reflects on his determination by saying, “Understanding what is required to return to my prior performance level, and knowing I can do it, boosts my confidence. I’ve been through this once before, which certainly helps. It’s no longer my rookie year; I feel more like a shark in the ocean now.”
As he prepares for his return in 2025, Overshown is also adjusting to significant coaching changes in the Cowboys’ organization. With Mike McCarthy stepping down and Brian Schottenheimer taking over as head coach, Overshown appreciates the initial signs of unity within the team. He has shared his excitement for the new coaching staff, indicating a strong commitment to achieving his goals once he returns.
