Aryna Sabalenka concluded her Grand Slam season on a high note in New York.
After facing defeats in the finals of the Australian Open and French Open, as well as the semifinals of Wimbledon, Sabalenka had one final opportunity to claim a major title in 2025.
Determined not to let this chance pass her by, Sabalenka triumphed over Amanda Anisimova, securing her fourth Grand Slam title.
The Belarusian won the championship match in straight sets with scores of 6-3, 7-6, although she faced a challenging semifinal against home favorite Jessica Pegula.

During an appearance on the Tennis Channel, Pegula’s coach Mark Knowles praised Sabalenka’s performance in the deciding set of their semifinal matchup, noting the high level of play from both athletes.

American tennis icon Tracy Austin, also present during the matches, noted Sabalenka’s impressive capabilities in the third set, stating she executed extraordinary shots under pressure.
Despite Pegula pushing Sabalenka throughout the match, she displayed remarkable speed and determination, showcasing her potential to compete with the best in women’s tennis.

Looking ahead, Pegula is set to compete in several tournaments, including the Billie Jean King Cup Finals and the China Open, as she aims to secure her place in the WTA Finals later this year.
