Baylor School Dominates at City Prep Tournament
Baylor School’s boys’ team clinched the championship title at the City Prep tournament held at Bear Trace at Harrison Bay, with Zack Bourgeois leading the charge. The freshman from Canada recorded an impressive round of 6-under 66, aiding Baylor to an aggregate score of 3-under, four strokes ahead of Signal Mountain.
The Baylor girls also excelled, with senior Carlee Rogers capturing the medalist honor with a score of 1-under 71. They finished with an even-par aggregate, outpacing runner-up Bradley Central by a significant 12 shots. This victory marked Rogers’s fourth consecutive win in this event.
In the boys’ individual competition, Signal Mountain’s Sam Otwell shone brightly with a bogey-free round, achieving seven birdies for a total of 7-under 65. Not far behind, Bourgeois claimed the second spot, while Andrew Suttles from Bradley Central secured third place with a 4-under 68, joining others in the tie for fourth.
The boys’ team standings placed Signal Mountain as the runner-up at 1-over, followed by McCallie at 5-over and Bradley Central at 9-over. For the girls’ competition, Bradley Central finished second with a team score of 12-over, with Soddy-Daisy and Chattanooga Christian trailing in third and fourth, respectively.
Rogers finished the day strong, making clutch birdies on the final holes to secure her victory, finishing one shot ahead of Ooltewah’s Duck Troxell. Troxell had an impressive start, moving to 3-under through the first seven holes but finished the day at even par.
Noteworthy performances included Baylor’s Katie Grace Tuder finishing third at 1-over, while several others positioned well in the top ranks, ensuring a competitive field. The event concluded with a seamless transition in leadership as Mike Jenkins and Rodney Mitchell passed the responsibilities to new tournament overseers.
