Assistant Coaches Appointed at University of Portland
Mark Berokoff and Anthony Separovich have been appointed as Assistant Basketball Coaches for the University of Portland, as announced by head coach Shantay Legans.
Mark Berokoff’s Coaching Background
Mark Berokoff joins the University of Portland’s men’s basketball team after spending the last four seasons as the head coach at Oklahoma City University (OCU). During his tenure at OCU, Berokoff achieved 54 wins and developed Rashuan Coleman into an All-American in his inaugural season.
A Proven Winner
With a career total of over 400 victories, Berokoff has claimed multiple state and national titles throughout his coaching career. He previously led Randall University to three national championships and five semifinal appearances in the National Christian College Athletic Association Division II, earning national coach of the year accolades in 2016 and 2019.
Experience Across All Levels
Before his time at Randall, Berokoff was an assistant at the NCAA Division I level with Louisiana Tech and Texas State, along with junior college coaching at Hill College. His high school record stands at 225-77, during which he won the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Championship in 2001.
Anthony Separovich’s Expertise
Anthony Separovich has also been appointed as an assistant coach, bringing extensive experience in player development and international recruiting. He has been the AUSA Hoops Program and Recruiting Director since 2022, successfully guiding numerous young athletes from Australia to collegiate scholarships in the U.S.
Successful Track Record
Separovich has a strong coaching history, having directed the Norths Bears Club to a championship title in 2014 and led Shore School to an undefeated conference record and a state championship in 2021. He oversaw a basketball program that included over 460 athletes and 50 staff members.
International Focus
Both Berokoff and Separovich have connections to Australian basketball, which aligns with the University of Portland’s successful recruiting efforts in the region. The Pilots’ current roster includes several Australian players, continuing a tradition of international talent.
