Cal Poly Men’s Basketball Staff Promotions for 2025
The Cal Poly men’s basketball program announced several changes in the coaching staff for 2025, with second-year assistant coach Jesse Pruitt taking on the role of general manager and assistant coach Sam Walters appointed as recruiting coordinator. The summer saw five key promotions and hirings within the team.
In addition to Pruitt and Walters, James Andrisevic has been appointed as the tactical analyst for the program. Hayden Jory, a letterwinner for the Mustangs from 2021 to 2025, steps into the role of assistant director of operations, while Yashwant Sathish Kumar advances from student manager to director of analytics.
Pruitt, who played a significant role in guiding Cal Poly to the Big West Championship semifinals in his first season, becomes the program’s inaugural general manager. His responsibilities will include overseeing Name, Image, and Likeness initiatives, enhancing the Cal Poly Players’ Trust, and managing community relations alongside his coaching duties.
Head coach Mike DeGeorge praised Pruitt’s capabilities, saying, “Jesse is a tremendous coach and has a great understanding of the financial aspects of our evolving landscape. He is exceptionally well-prepared for these added responsibilities.”
Walters, now in his enhanced role as recruiting coordinator, will provide critical support to international players throughout the recruitment and visa application processes. DeGeorge recognized Walters’ efforts in assisting international student-athletes, emphasizing his intelligence and meticulous approach.
Andrisevic joins Cal Poly with a comprehensive background, having previously served as an assistant for the Santa Cruz Warriors in the G League. At Cal Poly, he will focus on analyzing practice and game footage to implement statistical insights aimed at boosting on-court performance.
With seven returning letterwinners, including a squad that excelled in three-point shooting and scoring last season, Cal Poly begins its preparations for the 2025-26 season on September 22. The program is looking ahead with optimism for the upcoming year.
