Big Dumper Ready to Take on the World
Seattle Mariners’ All-Star catcher, Cal Raleigh, recently announced his participation with Team USA in the upcoming 2026 World Baseball Classic.
Joining Forces with Team USA
Raleigh will team up with Team USA captain Aaron Judge and fellow players Paul Skenes and Bobby Witt Jr. as early commitments to the squad, all set to represent the U.S. in the upcoming tournament managed by Mark DeRosa.
Exciting Times Ahead
The announcement coincides with Raleigh’s impressive season, where he leads MLB with 38 home runs. He is also set to compete in the T-Mobile Home Run Derby while making his All-Star debut as the American League’s starting catcher.
Record-Breaking Season
Raleigh’s performance has been remarkable. Not only is he the home run leader, but he also tops the RBIs with 82 runs and boasts a .1010 OPS, trailing only Aaron Judge. He has already surpassed his previous career-high of 34 home runs and is on track to exceed his personal best of 100 RBIs set last season.
Historic Potential
His current pace suggests a possible 64 home runs this season, which would shatter the record for catchers and establish a new American League mark, surpassing Judge’s 62 home runs from 2022.
World Baseball Classic Details
The 2026 World Baseball Classic will take place from March 5 to March 17, hosted across four cities: San Juan, Houston, Tokyo, and Miami. The championship game is set for March 17 at loanDepot Park in Miami.
Team USA’s Journey Begins
Team USA will kick off its campaign in Pool B on March 6 against Brazil at Daikin Park in Houston, with Mexico, Great Britain, and Italy also in their group, promising an exciting journey ahead as they aim for glory in the Classic.
