Novak Djokovic faced a disappointing loss in the semi-finals of the 2025 French Open.
The Serbian player started strong at Roland Garros, reaching the quarterfinals without losing a single set.
In the quarterfinals, he delivered an impressive performance by defeating Alexander Zverev with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.
However, he met the world number one in the semi-finals, where Jannik Sinner ended Djokovic’s run in straight sets.
In his post-match conference, Djokovic hinted that he might not return to Roland Garros in 2026, sparking discussions among fans and analysts.
Djokovic May Tire of Retirement Queries, Much Like Serena Williams
World number 129 Daria Saville, speaking on the Australian Open YouTube channel, shared her perspective on Djokovic’s current situation, suggesting it could become frustrating for him.
“It’s quite challenging to attend every press conference and repeatedly hear questions about how much longer he plans to play,” she remarked, drawing parallels to the treatment received by Serena [Williams] during her career.
Saville also reflected on Djokovic’s uncertain future at Roland Garros, expressing her belief that he would likely return, stating, “He may not know the state of his body, but I don’t think he’s ready to step away.”
The One Record Djokovic Has Yet to Break in Tennis
Saville highlighted Djokovic’s numerous accomplishments while noting that one record remains unbroken: the title count held by Jimmy Connors.
“Djokovic has clinched 24 Slams and virtually every significant accolade imaginable. He just recently achieved his 100th ATP title.”
As he eyes his next competition at Wimbledon, Djokovic’s pursuit of Connors’ record of 109 titles could factor into his plans, especially with the Grand Slam events fast approaching.
