The NFL free agency period is nearly complete, with only a few remaining moves, and the draft is on the horizon. Bettors are now looking ahead to the 2025 season as ESPN BET has released win totals for all 32 teams.
The Buffalo Bills lead the league with a projected win total of 11.5, while the New York Giants have the lowest at 3.5. After signing Russell Wilson on Tuesday night, the Giants increased their total to 5.5, leaving the Cleveland Browns with the bottom figure of 4.5.
Betting experts Joe Fortenbaugh, Ben Solak, Seth Walder, and Pamela Maldonado have shared their initial thoughts on the win totals at ESPN BET and have selected which over/under bets they would make prior to the draft.
Fortenbaugh’s First Bet: Washington Commanders UNDER 10.5 Wins (-150)
While Jayden Daniels is an impressive player, I have significant concerns about potential regression for Washington. The Commanders managed a 12-5 record last season with a +94 point differential, suggesting a more accurate reflection would be around 10.6 wins. Additionally, they were 8-4 in close matches, indicating an unlikely repeat of that performance. With a defense ranked 19th in EPA, a tougher schedule ahead incorporating AFC and NFC North opponents, and considering they were the fifth healthiest team in the NFL last year, expectations should be tempered for 2025.
Walder’s First Bet: Cleveland Browns OVER 4.5 Wins (-135)
The uncertainty surrounding the Browns presents an opportunity to bet on the over for such a low win total. Currently, Kenny Pickett is their starting quarterback, but I expect changes by September. Possibilities include Kirk Cousins or Shedeur Sanders coming in through the draft. With head coach Kevin Stefanski back calling plays and a roster with potential, reaching five wins seems plausible.
Solak’s First Bet: San Francisco 49ers UNDER 11.5 Wins (-115)
San Francisco has experienced a significant loss of talent, particularly on defense. Even if Robert Saleh can revitalize the defensive unit, depth issues on the line and a lack of reliable starters in the secondary raise concerns. They were initially projected for the same number of wins as teams like the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, and Philadelphia Eagles, but I remain skeptical about Brock Purdy‘s capabilities as a leading quarterback.
Maldonado’s First Bet: Los Angeles Chargers OVER 10.5 Wins (+120)
This is the year when the Chargers solidify their identity under Jim Harbaugh, focusing on tough, run-heavy football. They strengthened their offensive line by adding Mekhi Becton, Bradley Bozeman, and Andre James. Coupled with Najee Harris‘s consistent performance, this team’s potential is high. Defensive players like Khalil Mack remain impactful, and with a more controlled offense, hitting eleven wins is realistic.
