UPDATE ON THE RACING EVENTS
Top Fuel Round One
Low qualifier Doug Kalitta enjoyed a bye in the 11-car lineup but didn’t hold back, achieving an impressive 3.628 run — tying for the second fastest in history — and reaching a speed of 341.34 mph, the third fastest ever recorded. This marked Kalitta’s first 340-mph pass.
“Those numbers were showing with some 3.64s, but that run was flawless,” said crew chief Alan Johnson.
Brittany Force also made waves, setting a new track record with a 340.82 mph run on a 3.69 pass, defeating Ida Zetterström. This was her fifth 340-mph run and ranks as the third fastest in the sport’s history, contributing to her record of seven out of the top ten speeds.
“It’s fantastic for the fans to see 340s, but our primary goal is to earn three more win lights,” stated Force.
Funny Car Round One
Jack Beckman, who barely made the field on his last qualifying attempt, shined in round one with a swift 3.839 run, defeating Bob Tasca III, who had to lift after veering close to the centerline.
Points leader Austin Prock, the defending world champion, also advanced after receiving a bye when rookie Dylan Winefsky faced issues during his burnout. Prock’s crew made adjustments, but ended up with a disappointing 5.66, losing against Spencer Hyde, who successfully passed Paul Lee.
Meanwhile, Alexis DeJoria took a pivotal win over Chad Green, ending her streak of first-round exits with a holeshot victory.
