Mark Hunt has declared that his legal dispute with the UFC, Brock Lesnar, and Dana White is still ongoing.
“I never agreed to fight a doping guy who’s cheating,” Hunt expressed in a spirited interview with talkSPORT.com. He brought to light the ongoing nature of his legal fight, emphasizing that many do not grasp the true circumstances of the case.
Following his loss to Lesnar at UFC 200 in July 2016, Hunt took legal action against Lesnar, Dana White, and the UFC. He accused them of racketeering and fraud, asserting that the UFC was aware of Lesnar’s doping prior to their bout but allowed the fight to proceed for financial reasons.
The initial lawsuit was dismissed but was reinstated in 2021 when an appeals court overturned the decision, allowing claims of battery, fraud, and conspiracy to be considered. However, recent rulings cleared the defendants of serious charges, concluding that Hunt failed to demonstrate they had knowingly misled him regarding Lesnar’s use of performance-enhancing substances.
Despite the setback, Hunt firmly stated, “I haven’t lost the case… of course, it’s still going,” indicating his resolve to continue fighting this legal battle.
His lawsuit is complex, and Hunt, now a pro se litigant representing himself, is learning about the legal process alongside his supportive partner. He explained the personal impact of the case: “How was I supposed to know he’s cheating?” he questioned, emphasizing the broader implications on his life and family.
Hunt competed in the UFC from 2010 to 2018 and has since transitioned into boxing. Although he expressed no desire to return to MMA, he revealed he has engaged in talks regarding a potential bare-knuckle debut. “I can’t even bear to watch the sport anymore,” he admitted, reflecting on his time in the fight world.
