Severe Airstrikes in Gaza
DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip — A series of airstrikes led to the deaths of at least 32 individuals throughout Gaza City as Israel escalates its military actions there. Medical personnel reported casualties including 12 children.
Developments in Military Offensive
Israel has ramped up its bombing campaign in recent days, targeting various tall buildings it alleges are being used by Hamas for military purposes. On Saturday, Israeli forces confirmed they targeted another high-rise in Gaza City, urging residents to evacuate as part of their strategy to reclaim the city, which they claim serves as Hamas’ final stronghold.
Devastation in Sheikh Radwan Neighborhood
One particular airstrike struck a house in the Sheikh Radwan area, resulting in the deaths of an entire family of 10. Among the deceased was a mother and her three children. The Palestinian Football Association mourned the loss of Al-Helal Sporting Club player Mohammed Ramez Sultan, who died alongside 14 family members. Eyewitnesses shared images showcasing the aftermath of the strikes.
Hostage Families Demand Action
In other developments, families of Israeli hostages held by Hamas staged a demonstration in Tel Aviv, calling for a negotiation to secure their loved ones’ freedom. They criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s apparent ineffective strategies for resolving the situation.
Plight of Displaced Families
Despite the increasing violence and calls for evacuation, many families remain trapped in Gaza City due to financial constraints that limit their access to transportation and safe housing. Others face repeated displacements, making them reluctant to move again.
Humanitarian Crisis Deepens
Israel’s military has urged Palestinians to evacuate to a designated humanitarian zone, stating that over a quarter of a million people have fled Gaza City. However, the UN estimates that approximately 100,000 individuals have actually managed to leave amid growing tensions. The ongoing conflict has aggravated the humanitarian crisis, with reports of malnutrition-related deaths and overcrowded shelters in the south.
