Update on Jonathan Joss’s Tragic Death: Jonathan Joss, best known for voicing John Redcorn in the animated series King of the Hill and its upcoming revival, was shot and killed on Sunday in San Antonio, as confirmed by the police.
Authorities reported that Joss, 59, was found injured by a road after officers responded to a call about a shooting. Efforts to save him were made, but he was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
A suspect, 56-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, has been arrested on murder charges, and the investigation is still ongoing.
A native of San Antonio, Joss had a notable acting career that began in the mid-1990s, with an early role in the film 8 Seconds. He accumulated numerous television credits, including guest roles in Walker, Texas Ranger, Friday Night Lights, The League, Ray Donovan, In Plain Sight, and Parks & Recreation.
In total, he voiced John Redcorn in 34 episodes of King of the Hill, as well as in the corresponding video games. His other video game credits include roles in Red Dead Redemption, The Walking Dead: Michonne, Days Gone, Cyberpunk 2077, and Wasteland 3.
Mike Judge, Greg Daniels, and Saladin Patterson released a statement saying, “Jonathan Joss brought King of the Hill’s ‘John Redcorn’ to life for more than a dozen seasons, including in the upcoming revival. His voice will be deeply missed, and we extend our condolences to his loved ones.”
Following Joss’s death, his husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, shared a poignant statement on Facebook detailing the circumstances leading up to the tragic event, which he described as stemming from an anti-gay hate crime. He expressed his pain over the lack of response from law enforcement regarding past threats the couple had faced, emphasizing the emotional distress they had endured.
