Record Sale for Jayden Daniels Trading Card
NEW YORK — A new record was set for a Jayden Daniels trading card. Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris paid $500,000 for one of Daniels’ most desired rookie cards during Topps Trade Night, while on stage alongside the young quarterback.
The special guests, Harris and Daniels, attended the event following Day 2 of Fanatics Fest held at the Javits Center.
Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin moderated the sale, asking attendees who brought the most valuable Daniels card. Josh Roth and Jacob Ramos from Rothcards, based in Florida, stepped forward with Daniels’ 2024 Panini Prizm Black Finite one-of-one card. After some negotiations, Harris agreed through Rubin to make the purchase. Along with the $500,000 payment, Roth and Ramos received a signed Daniels jersey, which he autographed on the spot.
Harris will showcase the card at the Commanders’ Northwest Stadium, as reported by Fanatics.
The incredible story of how the Black Finite card was found is noteworthy. A collector with the username “Dr. Moist Muffins” obtained the card during a Fanatics Live stream on New Year’s Day, having paid just $36 for the chance to acquire all the Commanders cards. The sought-after card quickly garnered offers, including a public $200,000 bounty from Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit.
While Roth did not reveal the exact amount paid to Dr. Moist Muffins, he mentioned it was around $300,000. Therefore, Roth and Ramos made a profit of approximately $150,000 from the sale.
Roth emphasized how unexpected the chain of events was, recalling how he encountered Rubin casually before the start of Fanatics Fest. Their chance meeting led to them demonstrating the card to the crowd during the trade night events.
