Eagles OT Lane Johnson Prepares for Year 13: ‘I Feel Young at Heart, But Father Time is Real’ – Nick Shook, NFL.com
The star lineman for Philadelphia is aware that his playing days are limited.
Lane Johnson acknowledges that he is nearing the end of his playing career. However, after securing a one-year extension with the Eagles that will last until 2027, he isn’t ready to retire just yet.
When his current contract concludes, Johnson will be among the longest-serving Eagles, alongside recently retired edge rusher Brandon Graham. This recognition is meaningful to Johnson, even as he grapples with the reality of aging.
“If there’s anyone I’d want to tie with, it’s BG. It’s remarkable how many of us have stuck together over the years,” said Johnson, who is 35, on the show Good Morning Football. “It doesn’t feel like my 13th year, but here we are. I still feel young at heart, though one can’t dismiss Father Time. I really enjoy competing and love being around my teammates.”
Johnson’s career highlights include two Super Bowl victories, working under three head coaches, multiple offensive coordinators, and one consistent line coach, Jeff Stoutland. This stability contributes significantly to his ongoing commitment to the Eagles.
He is also motivated by Philadelphia’s recent success under Nick Sirianni, who has led the Eagles to two Super Bowl appearances in just three years. Johnson looks forward to reliving the recent triumph over the Kansas City Chiefs and is excited about an upcoming ring ceremony.
His performance on the field is another factor keeping him engaged. Johnson was rated as the seventh-best tackle in the NFL by Pro Football Focus in 2024 and continues to be a vital component of the Eagles’ offense.
Giants Legend Eli Manning Bows Out on Ownership Stake: ‘Too Expensive for Me’ – Fox Sports
Price and potential conflicts were factors hindering Manning’s purchasing ability.
In February, the New York Giants revealed that they were considering selling a non-controlling, minority stake in the franchise, initially listing former quarterback Eli Manning as a potential buyer. Now, however, Manning has withdrawn from consideration.
“It’s essentially too expensive for me,” Manning explained during a CNBC Sports interview. “These values have escalated significantly … a 1% ownership in a $10 billion entity becomes a huge figure. I love the Giants and understand their worth. However, due to my broadcasting commitments and coaching obligations, I couldn’t pursue this opportunity without conflicts impacting my other responsibilities.”
Manning remains connected with the Giants, involved in various capacities despite stepping back from the ownership bid. Notably, Hall of Famer Michael Strahan also has expressed interest in acquiring a stake in the team.
Washington Commanders Introduce Alternate Uniforms Celebrating Their Super Bowl Legacy – Nate Davis, USA Today
Washington recently revealed retro-inspired uniforms.
The Washington Commanders will don a nostalgic alternate uniform in 2025 that harkens back to their Super Bowl successes during the Joe Gibbs era, which saw them win three championships from 1982 to ’91.
The new look includes burgundy pants, a white jersey, and a burgundy helmet adorned with three stripes, evoking memories of legendary players like Gibbs, John Riggins, and Joe Theismann. Notably absent is the team’s former Indian head logo, replaced with the current “W” insignia.
The team communicated on social media that these uniforms are “Fit for Old D.C.,” paying homage to the song encouraging the team to “fight for Old D.C.”
“We are thrilled to honor Washington’s rich history with these iconic uniforms this season,” stated team president Mark Clouse.
“Since acquiring the team in 2023, Josh Harris and our ownership group have prioritized connecting past and present, paying tribute to those who shaped the burgundy and gold legacy. These uniforms symbolize our franchise’s most successful era, reflecting a culture of excellence and creating lasting memories for our fans. Our team, coaches, and entire organization are eager to celebrate our history and create new moments in these uniforms this season.”
