Bryson DeChambeau Claims Shared Vision with Rory McIlroy on the Set of Happy Gilmore 2
After a surprising visit to the White House, DeChambeau shared his thoughts regarding his rapport with the Masters champion. The golfer attended as Donald Trump reinstated the presidential fitness test, an initiative that had been abandoned during Barack Obama’s presidency.
DeChambeau has been appointed chair of the newly formed council, collaborating with notable athletes like Triple H, Annika Sorenstam, and Saquon Barkley. Expressing enthusiasm for his new role, he stated, “Helping our American youth is one of the most significant contributions I can make beyond golf.”
He emphasized the need to improve public health, especially with rising obesity rates. “We aim to establish a modern and healthier future for America,” he remarked. When asked about the current landscape of men’s professional golf, he mentioned his involvement with LIV Golf, the controversial league backed by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia.
Despite being banned from the PGA Tour, DeChambeau and others from LIV Golf found a potential pathway for reconciliation after the PGA announced a framework agreement with LIV’s financiers. He noted, “There’s a huge opportunity to grow the game of golf globally,” advocating for collaboration between both factions.
