Fleetwood Triumphs at Inaugural DP World India Championship
Tommy Fleetwood achieved an impressive victory with a brilliant final-day performance, winning the first-ever DP World India Championship in New Delhi by two strokes.
Three weeks after being the top scorer for Team Europe in their historic Ryder Cup win in the U.S., Fleetwood kept his exceptional season going with this success at Delhi Golf Club.
Overcoming a two-stroke deficit in a thrilling final round, Fleetwood’s five birdies in a seven-hole stretch allowed him to take the lead on a tightly contested leaderboard.
He wrapped up the event with eight birdies and one bogey, finishing at 22 under par—two strokes ahead of overnight leader Keita Nakajima. Shane Lowry secured a tied third position with Alex Fitzpatrick and Thriston Lawrence, finishing three strokes back.
A chip-in eagle on the final hole propelled Viktor Hovland to tied sixth with Jayden Schaper and Joost Luiten. Daniel Hillier, who briefly led by two strokes after seven birdies in his first ten holes, fell back to tied ninth after finishing with two bogeys and a double bogey.
Key Moments of Fleetwood’s Victory
Fleetwood quickly closed the gap on Nakajima with a birdie at the first hole. But after a bogey at the second, he regained momentum with a birdie at the fourth, while Hillier maintained his lead with a birdie at the tenth.
Fleetwood continued to surge ahead, picking up more shots, and after a strong performance, he celebrated his win alongside his son Frankie, marking the first time his son witnessed him winning on-site.
