Aston Villa’s Tyrone Mings Joins Euro 2028 Organizing Board
The newly formed company, UK & Ireland 2028 Limited, is responsible for the local management of UEFA Euro 2028 and has commenced operations immediately.
The England international defender will fulfill this new role alongside his playing commitments at Aston Villa, where he aims to excel in domestic and Champions League competitions.
Mings accepted the position on the board leading up to the tournament, which will kick off in June 2028, hosted across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
Joining him on the board is Debbie Hewitt, the chair of UK & Ireland 2028, along with the Football Associations from each host nation. Mings is among three independent non-executive directors, including sports law barrister Susan Aherne and former Tesco CFO Alan Stewart.
Mings, who last played for England two years ago, has experience outside of football, having previously collaborated with Prince William on initiatives addressing homelessness. The organizers announced their board choices, highlighting each member’s expertise to ensure a successful event.
Hewitt emphasized the significance of these appointments in their mission to host the best UEFA EURO in 2028, stating that they look forward to working with football and government partners to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, enhancing football development while delivering socio-economic benefits.
