Infinity Nikki has launched its multiplayer-oriented 1.5 update on Steam, but it’s accompanied by a slew of controversies.
After several months of exclusivity on the Epic Game Store, Infold Games’ fashionable dress-up adventure finally became available on Valve’s platform. However, what should have been a celebratory release has been overshadowed by a variety of technical glitches, baffling design alterations, and stringent outfit collection requirements. The developers have issued apologies and promised compensation to dissatisfied players, but the challenges surrounding Infinity Nikki are far from resolved.
Players eagerly anticipating the Steam release faced numerous technical difficulties, including crashes and instability, that hindered game launches. This dress-up title is not the first to experience issues at launch, but it quickly drew criticism beyond mere performance complaints.
The introduction of two new five-star outfits, Snowbound Ballad and Undying Ember, which consist of 11 pieces each, raised eyebrows. Collecting these full sets could demand a significant investment of time and money, with fans fearing that such high requirements may continue to escalate.
In response to the existing challenges, Infold extended its Crown of Miraland: Peak Arena event to three weeks, leading to community confusion. With the growing number of technical problems and evolving monetization strategies, some Chinese players took to RedNote to express their discontent, leading to a grassroots movement urging others to boycott the game on Steam, leave negative reviews, and uninstall it across platforms.
A Reddit user noted that many Chinese players pledged to abstain from spending in-game currency to signal their dissatisfaction, stating, “Holding back your pulls can help show we want Infinity Nikki to stay fun and fair for all players.”
Amid the mounting backlash, Infold issued an apology letter acknowledging the issues and promising to improve communication about changes in the future. They also committed to offering compensation, yet many fans remain concerned about the persistent high requirements for new outfits, which could further complicate the gameplay experience.
